Why you should never skip your therapy appointments

It isn't only about your health. Every absence leaves a hole in the document that tells the story of your recovery.

It's the question we get most and the one with the biggest consequences. The short answer: your medical record is the proof of your injuries, and absences read as if you didn't have them.

What a clinic actually records

Every visit gets written down: what hurt, how much, which exercises you did, how your body responded. That continuous record is what later shows the injury existed, that the accident caused it, and that it required treatment.

When three weeks go missing, the document stops telling a story of recovery and starts telling one of interruption.

How a gap in treatment gets used

On the other side, someone will read that same record looking for exactly this. A gap allows three arguments:

  • That the injury wasn't as serious as claimed
  • That you had already recovered by the date of the last visit
  • That something other than the accident caused the pain that appeared later

None of the three has to be true to work as an argument.

If you can't make it

It happens, and there's a way to handle it:

  • Tell the clinic before the appointment, not after
  • Ask them to record the reason in your file
  • Reschedule right then, not "next week"
  • If the problem is transportation or hours, say so — many clinics adjust

And most importantly

Treatment is not a formality of the case. Neck and back injuries that aren't treated in time become chronic, and no settlement makes up for that.
